Makati is one of the 16 cities that make up Metro Manila, and is the financial centre of the Philippines. It also hosts numerous embassies. Its residential population is approximately 600,000 but its occupational population is estimated at one million. Makati also bosts many shopping precincts and malls, hotels, and some of the tallest buildings in the Philippines.
